The origin of snoring lies in the nose or throat and is due to an obstruction of the airway. This obstruction is caused by a relaxation of the soft palate, tongue muscles and muscles of the mouth floor. As a result the restriction during breathing the inhaled air is accelerated and vibration of the throat soft tissue develops so that the snoring noise occurs.
